Among the growing number of new and evolved IT positions, five specialties are the most in-demand and should expect a big bump in hourly rates and salaries, according to new research. Pay increases of 7.5 to 9 percent are anticipated for 2013.

1. Mobile app developers – the starting salary for these jobs is anticipated to rise 9 percent in 2013, to $44-$64 hourly ($92,750- $133,500 annually).

2. Wireless network engineer – starting salaries for the people bringing us Wi-Fi are anticipated to rise 7.9 percent next year, to $41-$56 hourly ($85,500-$117,000 annually).

3. Network engineer – It’s not just wireless that’s in demand. Starting salaries for network engineers are projected to increase 7.8 percent in 2013, to $38-$55 hourly ($80,750-$116,250.

4. Data modeler – Starting salaries for data modelers are expected to grow by 7.6 percent next year, to $44-$61 hourly ($92,000-$126,750.

5. Portal administrator – Starting salaries for portal administrators are anticipated to increase by 7.5 percent in 2013, to $44-$55 hourly ($86,500-$114,500.
