MDI Group Chairperson and Owner Recognized for Business Acumen and Community Service
ATLANTA, April 28, 2014 – MDI Group Inc., a leading national IT staffing and recruiting services provider, today announced its chairperson of the board and owner Ella (Mortland) Koscik has been inducted into the Plum High School Distinguished Alumni Class of 2014. Koscik was one of six inductees to be recognized during a banquet on April 27 at the Oakmont Country Club in Plum, PA, followed by a ceremony on April 28 at the Alumni Wall of Distinction on the Plum High School campus.
Accompanied by her parents, daughters, extended family and friends, Koscik addressed Plum students by sharing, “I am proud to represent this fine school district which has educated so many outstanding professionals including leaders in government, business and education. The many lessons I learned while in high school proved to be invaluable when starting and managing my own business.”
Koscik was recognized as a Distinguished Alumnus for not only succeeding as an entrepreneur, but for her work in the community, including creating The Ella Marie Foundation, which helps women and children in need. She has received more than 50 industry, community and philanthropic awards, including recognition among the “Top 25 Power Women to Watch” by Atlanta Woman magazine. Koscik was one of three women elected to represent over 35,000 certified women business owners by serving on the National Board of Directors for Women’s Business Enterprise National Council in Washington D.C.
The Plum High School Distinguished Alumni program was started by retired Plum teacher Bob Ford in 2006 as a way to honor graduates. In addition to Koscik, the 2014 list of inductees included:
- Frank Jones: Lawyer specializing in estate planning, administration and litigation; Plum School District solicitor from 1973 to 2005.
- Robert J. McCann: Chief executive officer of UBS Group Americas and Wealth Management Americas.
- Harriet Lee Mulholland Miller: Recently retired owner and operator of Chaddsford Winery.
- Robert P. O’Block: Director emeritus of McKinsey & Co.
- George A. Pivik: Retired U.S. Army colonel and executive director at JPMorgan Chase & Co.
