Ella Koscik Shares Tips for Success with GSATC Meeting Attendees in Greenville, SC
ATLANTA, GA - Speaking to a record crowd at the monthly Greenville Spartanburg Anderson Technology Council (GSATC) meeting in Greenville, SC, Ella Koscik candidly shared her successes and failures in building her business, Management Decisions, Inc. (MDI). "One of the biggest struggles for me was learning to let go," Koscick admitted to the nearly 100 attendees at the April 13th meeting. "I am a sales person, and I wanted to stay in control of sales and be in the middle of it all, but I had to pull myself out of the sales role and focus on strategic planning to diversify and grow the business."
As CEO, Koscik grew MDI from $1 million in revenue in 1994 to a projected $52 million this year with a clear focus on her business goals. Based on her real-world experience in successfully leading and building a company through strategic planning, diversification and expansion, Koscik's speech, "Growth is Not an Accident," provided attendees with insight on what to do and what not to do. Reflecting on her own trials and tribulations, Koscik emphasized the importance of balancing priorities, including customers, people, processes and finances.
"I really enjoyed Ella's speech, in particular, how she encouraged business leaders to transition from working in the business to working on the business to properly balance work and life and be successful," commented Julie Godshall Brown, President of Godshall & Godshall. "As a business owner, this is one of the hardest things to do, but Ella stressed that you have to step back to see the big picture and hire the right people that have the strengths that you do not have in order to build a profitable business," she added.
