Atlanta (May 4, 2001) — Management Decisions Inc. (MDI) has garnered three prestigious growth awards in as many weeks. MDI was honored with the Working Women 500, The Atlanta Business Chronicle Pacesetter Award and named one of the top 10 woman-owned firms in Atlanta and the largest woman-owned technology staffing firm by the Atlanta Business Chronicle. MDI was also recognized as the fifth fastest growing woman-owned firm in Atlanta. This is the third consecutive year the firm has been honored for each award.
The awards are based on company growth numbers. Since owner Ella Koscik purchased the company in 1994, MDI has enjoyed six consecutive years of growth. She has taken revenues from $1 million to more than $41 million and supports 350 employees. Last year, the Atlanta-based company, with a branch office in Greenville, S.C., opened additional branches in Charlotte, N.C., and Phoenix, Ariz. Last month MDI opened its fifth office in Birmingham, Ala.
MDI is a full service technical staffing firm providing contract, contract-to-hire and direct-hire IT professionals to Fortune 1000-sized customers.
Even as the economy begins to slow, the need for IT talent is tremendous.
MDI owner Ella Koscik noted that although the latest Information Technology Association of America (ITAA) reports a decline in the U.S. IT workforce growth rate, it also estimates that 10.4 million people are currently working in the IT profession. The report also found that businesses still expect to add another 900,000 IT positions in the next 12 months, and of that number, 425,000, will go unfilled, according to the study.
Despite the slower growth rate, Koscik remains optimistic. "The job market has recently become softer, and we have seen an increase in the number of available candidates," said Koscik. "However, our economy is so entrenched with technology that there will always be a need for technical IT professionals and MDI consultants have the hot skills companies are seeking. Active server pages, SQL Server, CGI, Java, JavaScript, and C++ development are some of our strongest areas."
Koscik attributed MDI's growth to a clear and consistent strategy.
"MDI's growth strategy is to open local offices that are involved in their cities' business communities," said Koscik. "We combine the capabilities of a national firm with the personal, individual service of a hometown neighbor."
Being neighborly means giving back. MDI participates in various charity events each quarter. Recently MDI partnered with Hands on Atlanta for Technology Service Day. The event was the inauguration of an on-going initiative to "bridge the digital divide" by teaching computer skills with those who aren't familiar with their use. The goal is to get corporate volunteers with technical skills to work year-round with metro Atlanta schools, nonprofits and community centers to provide technology to those without easy access.
MDI provides contract and direct-hire placement of information-technology professionals in Fortune 1000 companies. MDI focuses on hiring superior talent and delivering superior customer service. MDI has offices in Birmingham, Ala.; Charlotte, N.C.; Greenville, S.C.; and Phoenix, Ariz. MDI has been on the Inc. 500 list of fastest-growing private companies for the past three years. MDI has been recognized by Working Woman, The Atlanta Business Chronicle, Competitive Edge, Entrepreneur and Georgia Trend. For more information on MDI, visit www.mdicareers.com or call 888-416-7949.
